Air-dry hair care recommendation

Link disclaimer: If you would like to skip my ramblings and head right to the links, I have them linked directly on this page.

I have a confession to make.

I'm obsessed with TikTok. I never gave it a second thought until March 2020 when our world came to a halt and I sought out TikTok for some comic relief and an escape tactic from our newly stressful world.

While I enjoyed watching all the talented dancers doing these complicated choreographed dance moves I soon learned there were MANY sides of TikTok. And the more you engaged with certain creators via likes and comments, the more the algorithm showed you those items!

I soon discovered cleaning hacks, self care hacks, meditation hacks and countless numerous others.

For months I sat watching like a silent creeper.

I slowly dipped my toes in the TikTok water. I made a couple generic videos that wouldn't give away too much information.

Then a few weeks ago I saw a TikTok about using an air-dry shampoo found at Sally Beauty™. When I say I ran there, I'm not kidding.

The best part was the gal working at the local store was familiar to me from another retail establishment in town too so we had fun little chats and she also KNEW ABOUT THE TIKTOK.

When TikTok fans unite, it's chemistry.

So I bought the Eva NYC™ Air-Dry Shampoo & Conditioner and I also picked up their Therapy Session hair mask.

Because everyone deserves a little self care, ya know?

To say I love it is the understatement of the year. I have been working from home for the last year and a lot of days I get up early and get a shower before working from my home office so I don't NEED to get ready that instant depending on the day so I've been actively allowing time for my hair to air dry.

Did I mention my hair has never looked BETTER from air drying? It's finally growing, feeling thick and looking luscious!

I used the Eva NYC™ Therapy Session mask before using the Air-Dry Shampoo and Conditioner. When I say I wish I had smell-o-vision, I would literally text you the delicious smell of this product line. Often times I feel if something smells good, it may not work the best. Look at this list of ingredients from the Sally Beauty™ website. It's not surprising I love the smell because a lot of the ingredients are derived from essential oil ingredients!

Fragrance: Eva NYC's Lavender Fragrance includes notes of Ylang, Bergamot, Lavender, Rose, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Amber, Sandalwood, and Patchouli. This scent is mainly of lavender, relaxing and smooth overall.

Bonus, this Shampoo and Conditioner has pretty clean ingredients!!!

I'm not against any chemicals in products, I know there are a certain amount needed for preservation, etc but I appreciate the effort brands are exhibiting in attempting to make cleaner products for our health. Also, I'm not a scientist nor do I play one on TV.

Hero Ingredients: Hemp Seed Oil – derived from cold-pressed seeds of industrial hemp (does not contain CBD or THC). An ideal balance of Omega-3 & Omega-6 hydrates and protects the hair, while simultaneously locking in moisture. Sea Lavender – a marine plant extract with powerful antioxidant properties that moisturize and soften.

My only complaint.

Just keeping it real here. Because this blog is 100% my own original opinions and ramblings I do feel inclined to share the one complaint I have. To be honest it could have just been user error and/or a combination of some hand issues I already have and/or being wet from the shower but I COULD NOT get the pump to release for the first three times I used it. I was unscrewing the cap to get the product out. That part was a little tricky but once I got the pump released, it works well.

The bottle for both the shampoo and conditioner is 100% recycled aluminum so it will live a long and happy life after you recycle it!

Another hair care tip: take a small amount of shampoo in your hands and let it emulsify before applying to only the hair areas that touch your scalp. I start behind my temples and work downward around my ears. Only a small amount actually shampoos the bottom parts of my hair that hang down. I let it sit for a couple minutes before rinsing it out. The conditioner only goes on the bottom ends of your hair! I act like I'm pulling my hair into a pony tail and condition it that way while I body wash/shave before rinsing out completely! Simply comb/brush your hair when you exit the shower and let it hang dry. My hair is stick straight but does get a little humidity curl sometimes. I haven't felt the need to dry shampoo or straighten at all! (I do realize everyone has different hair structure so you do you, girlfriend!)

Either way for the price tag at $12.99/each it was worth the try and I can say it is now SOLD OUT at my local store.

Back to TikTok!

Ok the whole point of this rambling message was just to tell you that when I was in the store chatting with the lovely associate I casually mentioned I should duet the original TikTok! She was a great cheerleader, encouraging me to do so!

So I did.

I don't want to say it went VIRAL. But it's gotten just over 6,000 likes to date!!

That's viral to me!

Anyway, here's the TikTok duet video I did of the original video. You can find me on TikTok @alisonkepner.
